Stacey and Andrew | October 4, 2020

October 4, 2020 Andrew Meets His Match Cambridge Mill, Cambridge, Ontario I met Stacey and Andrew at a wedding show in the fall of 2019, and made their engagement photos at Victoria Park that October. They brought with them a game called “Balance” that they love to play in their spare time. They set it up on a picnic table and played for a while as I took photos. I loved their comfort with each other. That comfort was evident at their Cambridge Mill wedding on October 4 - they smiled at each other all day long. After the ceremony, as they were taking to guests, they held hands even when they were

Shelley and Jeff | October 11, 2020

October 11, 2020 Fun, Casual Wedding Hespeler Village and Shelley & Jeff's back yard, Cambridge, Ontario Shelley and Jeff's wedding went through quite a few changes and downsizings. In the end they had a very simple ceremony in their back yard with only 19 guests, mostly family. We started the afternoon with about 90 minutes of "first look" photographs, although it's not really a first look if the bride and groom drive together to the photo location, is it? We wandered around Hespeler Village, stopping at about six locations, including Graffiti Alley (see below). This was easily the most laid-back

Shannon and Taylor | September 18, 2020

September 18, 2020 Muskoka Waterfront Wedding Gravenhurst, Ontario I had such a good time shooting Shannon and Taylor's engagement and wedding. They're happiest outdoors with their dogs, who accompanied them to both events. Their wedding took place on the Gravenhurst pier on a sunny Friday afternoon in September. They had a very emotional first look at a gazebo overlooking the bay. At this very country wedding, the men wore jeans and boots, and their boutonnières were made from shotgun shells. Below you'll see a photo of Shannon and her bridesmaids proudly showing off their own boots.

Tessa and Ian | September 12, 2020

September 12, 2020 Rustic Wedding at CJ Country Events Rockwood, Ontario I met Tessa and Ian in 2019, and we spent an afternoon taking engagement photos in Owen Sound's Harrison Park. To see the photos, you'd think we were in the Caribbean. Fast-forward a year, and they were getting married in the beautiful surroundings of CJ Country Events outside of Rockwood. It was a perfect mid-September day, with blue skies and warm temperatures. Tessa and Ian smiled and laughed all day, making for some truly incredible photographs. The light could not have been better. Photos we took on the forest

Emma and Tim | August 9, 2020

August 9, 2020 Intimate Front-Yard Wedding Caledonia, Ontario Emma and Tim were among the thousands of couples who had to alter their plans in 2020. Their wedding took place on Emma's aunt & uncle's property outside Caledonia on a Sunday afternoon with only ten people in attendance. Tim's parents in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, joined by video. They met in college and have been together ever since. Before covid they thought about moving to Tim's native Newfoundland but those plans are on hold. And they're planning to have a large reception next June to celebrate their wedding with the

Beci and Phil

Beci and Phil - High School Sweethearts Reunited A longish time ago, in a town far, far from Southern Ontario - Amherstburg, to be precise - Beci and Phil were high school sweethearts. As sometimes happens, sweethearts fail to marry one another after high school. And, as also sometimes happens, they don't quite forget each other. Move ahead a number of years, and the one-time paramours found themselves unattached at the same time. How they reconnected depends on which of them you ask... He Said, She Said Beci's story: "He friended me on Facebook seconds after I changed back to my maiden name." Phil's story: "She stalked me on Facebook and got my

Charmaine and Laszlo

Charmaine and Laszlo - a Backyard Country Wedding, With Zoo Animals Charmaine and Laszlo own Little Tracks Petting Zoo, a mobile petting zoo just west of Woodstock, Ontario. Their wedding took place in September, 2018 in their yard, steps from where the animals are housed. Animals are central to every aspect of their lives. In addition to the zoo inhabitants, they also have two great Danes, two horses and a pony. The question wasn't whether there'd be animal photos, but how many there'd be. Wedding Day - September 8, 2018 Charmaine, her maid of honour, Jenny, and Jenny's twin daughters got ready at Charmaine's mother's house in Woodstock while Laszlo and his best

Building Your Wedding Day Shot List

How to Build Your Wedding Day Shot List In all likelihood, your photographer thinks about your wedding day a little differently than you do. To him / her, your day is a multi-act play with different scenes and actors / actresses. Without carrying the play analogy too far, let's break a wedding day into its scenes: Bridal party getting ready Groom and groomsmen goofing off and delaying getting ready Groomsen at church / ceremony venue Bridal party getting to church Guests arriving and being seated by ushers Ceremony Post-ceremony at church Family photos Wedding party photos Bride and groom photos Cocktail reception Dinner Speeches Formal dances Cake cutting Bouquet / garter Sunset shots Reception (dancing)

Kate and Zach

Kate and Zach - a Cambridge Mill Celebration Our journey with Kate and Zach began at a Wedding Ring expo in the fall of 2017 when Kate and her aunt visited our booth. We like them both, so I was thrilled to have the chance to talk to Kate again and meet Zach. There was so much about their wedding to look forward to - particularly our first chance to shoot at the Cambridge Mill, and an engagement session at Elora Gorge Conservation Area. Kate and Zach are seriously fun-loving and goofy. Their engagement session took place not long before dusk, which presented interesting challenges. But they didn't let the dwindling light stop them from mugging for

Choosing the Right Photographer For You

Choosing the Right Photographer For You Of course a photographer is going to say this -- but choosing the right photographer might be the most important vendor decision you make. Why?You'll spend more time with your photographer than with any other vendor, and it's not even close. If you're not comfortable around your florist, no one will know. If you're not comfortable around your photographer, your photos will show it.All the decor from your wedding day come down that night, and you may soon sell some of it so someone else can enjoy it. Photographs are the only thing you'll have with you forever - except your new spouse, of course. How do you choose the right
