Fun, Casual Wedding

Hespeler Village and Shelley & Jeff’s back yard, Cambridge, Ontario

Shelley and Jeff’s wedding went through quite a few changes and downsizings. In the end they had a very simple ceremony in their back yard with only 19 guests, mostly family. We started the afternoon with about 90 minutes of “first look” photographs, although it’s not really a first look if the bride and groom drive together to the photo location, is it? We wandered around Hespeler Village, stopping at about six locations, including Graffiti Alley (see below).

This was easily the most laid-back wedding I shot in 2020. Shelley’s family – she has four sisters – is very fun-loving, to the point of staging an attack on Jeff and bringing a blow-up dude to the reception. (Dude’s name is Timmy. He’s been in the family for years.)

The weather was sunny but cool, so you’ll see Shelley wearing a coat for most of the photos. I consider it my job to capture what happens, not to force things to happen, so I went with the flow. The result is a lot of relaxed smiles.
